As a musician who began my journey touring full-time in a family band, I’ve had the privilege of playing alongside many renowned artists over my 30-year career. I’m Luke Bulla, and through my solo performances, I share a wealth of interesting experiences and stories that have shaped me. I vividly remember rolling around the entire United States and parts of Canada in a 1948 Greyhound Silversides bus with my family band in the early '90s, a time that ignited my passion for the bluegrass and Texas fiddle genres. From there, I moved to Nashville and started my adult career in Ricky Skaggs band, Kentucky Thunder. I was 19 years old when I started with Ricky and from there I traveled the world with movie stars like Kevin Costner and his band, Modern West, and many other country and pop music stars. I truly cherish the moments spent with legends like Guy Clark, Jon Randall Stuart, Chris Thile, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Bryan Sutton, Earl Scruggs, John Hartford, and many others, and I'm grateful every time I get to relate some of these stories to folks who'll appreciate them.
From 2009 to 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to tour with the incomparable Lyle Lovett and his all-star bands, His Large Band and His Acoustic Group. I am immensely grateful for that connection to Texas and for all that I’ve learned from Lyle. Now, I find joy in writing my own music and sharing songs that resonate deeply with me, often weaving in fiddle tunes and stories from my early fiddle contest days in Weiser, Idaho, and things I learned from Bobby Hicks while in Ricky's band.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about the new songs I’m writing and have plans to release a solo EP soon. I also have a busy schedule of shows lined up this year, along with some online teaching. I can’t wait to connect with all of you, and I look forward to seeing you on February 8th!
